Pupil Premium

As part of the way in which the Government funds schools, there is an allocation of money called “The Pupil Premium”. Pupil Premium is additional funding, provided to schools to support specific groups of children who may be in danger of under-attaining. There are three categories of children who qualify for Pupil Premium Funding:

  • Children who have been eligible for free school meals within the last six years;
  •  Looked After Children;
  • Armed Forces Children

There is no set guidance on the way in which this funding should be allocated. It is up to individual schools to determine their own priorities and decide how the Pupil Premium is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made. The government requires schools to publish online information about how they have used the Premium.

School Financial Benchmarking

What is the Schools Financial Benchmarking Tool?

The Schools Financial Benchmarking Tool helps schools compare their finances with similar schools and make comparisons between income, balances and workforce structures.

Why benchmark?

Benchmarking helps schools to:

  • make better-informed decisions and triggers further discussion
  • facilitate peer learning and exchange of ideas between schools and academies
  • compare spending with other similar schools or academy trusts
  • consider how to use resources to support high-quality teaching and education outcomes for pupils
  • consider whether resource allocations are working or whether outcomes could be improved by doing things differently

Here you can view St. John's financial data and see how it compares with other schools. Please click the link below;
