gruff

A child took a walk in a deep, dark wood,

He needed to find a school that was better than just good.

“I need to find the perfect school for me,

One that’s kind and friendly and the best it can be.”

The boy walked down a path and behind some rocks,

He saw a fluffy, little, baby fox.

“Excuse me,” said the child, “I need the perfect school for me,

One that’s kind and friendly and the best it can be.”

“Well”, said the fox with smile on his face

“There is one I have heard of which sounds like a wonderful place.

There are wonderful teachers who make sure all children learn,

They teach wonderful lessons where everyone gets a turn.

They plan wonderful learning and tickle pink wonderful books,

It is just round the corner, you should take a look.”

“Thank you” said the boy, “I must find that school

It sounds exciting and very cool.”

The little boy continued down the woodland road,

Until he saw a squirrel carrying a heavy load.

“Excuse me” said the child, “I need the perfect school for me,

One that’s kind and friendly and the best it can be.”

“Don’t you worry,” said the squirrel bouncing high

“There is one near here where the children fly!

There are wonderful TAs who help children everyday,

They are patient and caring and will always find a way.

They give out lolly sticks to people who are good,

And if you are stuck, they will show you how you could.”

“Thank you.” said the boy, “I must find that school

It sounds exciting and very cool.”

The boy walked on further, and around the bend

He met a snake with a little friend.

“Excuse me” said the child, “I need the perfect school for me,

One that’s kind and friendly and the best it can be.”

“I think I know one”, said the snake with a drawl

“They Love One Another, its their Golden  rule.

They have a wonderful office who greet you with a smile

They are very good with plasters and they go the extra mile

There is a wonderful caretaker, (he's rather tall you know),

Whatever you need fixing he will always have a go.”

“Thank you” said the boy, “I must find that school

It sounds exciting and very cool.”

As the boy skipped on, he saw an owl in a tree,

Looking wise and helpful and as clever as can be.

“Excuse me” said the child, “I need the perfect school for me,

One that’s kind and friendly and the best it can be.”

“You’re in luck” said the owl, “I have heard of one

There are lots of children where who could be your chum.

The children enjoy their lunchtimes with the games they play

The wonderful supervisors make it a happy time of day.

There are wonderful governors who help everyone

They give up their time and make sure things smoothly run”.

“Thank you” said the boy, “I must find that school

It sounds exciting and very cool.”

Suddenly in the distance, shinning in the light

The little boy saw a wonderful sight.

Right in front of him was St John’s school

With the colourful Octagon shining like a jewel.

There were lots of children all having fun,

Laughing and joking and playing in the sun.

Year 6 were reading to their Reception mates,

Parents were standing and chatting at the gate.

“Wow”, said the boy, “That looks like a wonderful place

I hope there is a class that has a space.

I know everyone there would care for me

They will be kind and friendly and the best they can be.”

So in he ran up the drive with a smile and laughter

And at St John’s he stayed, happily ever after,
